Dr. Erskine has offered an Equine Ambulatory Private Practice Internship since 2001. Interns are graduate veterinarians, licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Maryland, who have demonstrated a desire to advance their veterinary knowledge and expertise through the mentoring and supervision afforded by an internship. They contribute greatly to the practice with their enthusiasm for excellence, progressive knowledge base, and active participation in all aspects of equine medicine.

Dr. Erskine offers veterinary students the opportunity to participate in an Externship during their senior year of veterinary school. During the externship, the students gain a broad range of hands-on experience in equine practice. This is an important aspect of their veterinary training. Housing is available.

Undergraduate and veterinary students can schedule days to ride along with one of the veterinarians in order to gain experience in equine veterinary medicine. The schedule fills up quickly for the summer as well as winter and spring breaks. Please email the office with your requests. Students must be 18 years or older, have their own transportation and be available for a full day. It is best for undergrads to schedule a full work week (5 days) at a time for an optimal experience.
