Dr. Suzanne Welker grew up in Clifton Forge, Virginia, where she spent her days learning to ride, care for, and whole-heartedly love unruly ponies. Since age 6, she has been a devoted equestrian, and she still enjoys many disciplines of riding, including hunter/jumpers and dressage.
Dr. Welker graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2007 and received her D.V.M degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. From 2012 thru 2014, Dr. Welker was enrolled in the ABVP Residency Program under Dr. Michael Erskine’s supervision.
Dr. Welker currently resides in Garrett Park, Maryland, with her husband, Steve; they welcomed their baby girl, Eliza, on October 25, 2017. In addition to their adorable rescue terrier mutts, Cosette and Sansa, Dr. Welker also owns and rides an OTTB mare, Willow, from whom she learns something new every day. In her spare time, Dr. Welker enjoys hiking, singing, watching dramas/thrillers, ballroom dancing, and eating anything spicy.
